Quarterback Kyle Orton was back at practice with the Bears on Wednesday, but he wouldn’t speculate on his status for Sunday’s game against the Packers as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. “[It's early] in the week, obviously, but I’m preparing like I am [starting],” Orton said. “Day in and day out.” Orton suffered a high right ankle sprain against Detroit on Nov. 2, an injury originally expected to sideline him three to four weeks. He missed last Sunday’s 21-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Orton said the ankle is getting better every day. Asked how close he was to playing against the Titans, Orton said, “I didn’t play, so I don’t know. Wasn’t that close, obviously.” If Orton plays Sunday, it would be his first game at Green Bay’s Lambeau Field. The Bears (5-4) share the NFC North lead with the Minnesota Vikings, one game ahead of the Packers (4-5). “Everybody on the team knows how important this game is, how important this rivalry is and looks forward to it all year,” Orton said. Orton jogged around the field during warm-ups. His participation in practice was expected to be limited. Safety Mike Brown, defensive tackle Tommie Harris and center Olin Kreutz rested. Receiver Brandon Lloyd (knee) and linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (thumb) practiced despite injuries.
