After some talk of the Bears releasing DT Tommie Harris in favor of third round pick Jarron Gilbert, Harris finally spoke up, here’s what he said:
“People love you when you’re hot and when you’re not, they try to expose the obvious, I’m glad I’ve had this time in my career to separate those who really care from those who are just there.
” Jarron Gilbert‘s a great athlete, and every guy that comes in, I want them to take my job if they’re better than me. … And I will still help teach him.”"No, I’m not surprised about the knee, that’s how injuries go: one minute up, next down. You just hope the up comes faster than the down.”
He enters this season with more sacks (18) than any defensive tackle since the ’06 season and ranked second on the Bears last season with five sacks.
Harris talked about new defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, this is what he said:
“He’s an amazing teacher more than a coach, he breaks the game down, and it has moved from checkers to chess, I miss being in practices with my teammates, but I believe it will help me in the near future.”
