-Mike Martz spoke up again about another vital piece of the Bears offense TE Greg Olsen. He said if he can’t get Olsen to fit, there is something wrong with his offense.
Here’s what he said about Greg Olsen:
“If there’s a player that can’t fit a system, then something is wrong — if he’s a good player — with the system. Don’t you think? Our deal is, we will give everybody an opportunity to find who they are and how they will contribute. Everybody will get that opportunity, and Greg will, too. He’s learned things very quickly, very pleased with just the few things we’ve done on the field. Not disappointed in any respect.”
“He needs to get grounded in blocking, and he knows that, we’ve told him that, It’s hard to run the ball if you don’t have a tight end that’s going to handle the edge over there. We’ve got a number of tight ends because we anticipate running the ball very well when we want to run it.”
-Frank Omiyale is moving over to right tackle, his natural position.
Mike Martz had this to say about the move:
“I’m excited about that whole group, our two young tackles now, moving Frank out to right tackle, going to have Chris [Williams] at left tackle. To have two young tackles with their ability, and to develop them with somebody like [new Bears offensive line coach] Mike Tice is kind of remarkable.”
“The inside situation with Olin [Kreutz], we’ve got some young guards that we’ll choose from. We’ll let them kind of battle things out.”
-The Bears will wear a throwback uniform from the 1940s (pictured above) as part of a campaign honoring the “Monsters of the Midway” during select regular-season contests in 2010.
This season the Bears will wear their throwback uniforms during two games which have yet to be determined. Fans will get to see current players sporting the throwback uniforms at the Bears Expo this Saturday.
