LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with Kevin O’Dea, making him Chicago’s assistant special teams coach.
This will be O’Dea’s second stint as the Bears assistant special teams coach, holding the same position during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
During his first stint with the team, the Bears special teams unit, under coordinator Dave Toub and O’Dea, ranked first in the NFL in overall special teams rankings each season.
O’Dea spent 2010 as the special teams coordinator of the Hartford Colonials of the UFL after spending two seasons in the same position with the New York Jets.
The position became available with Chris Tabor accepting the position of special teams coordinator with the Cleveland Browns.
Expect O’Dea to do a good job in his second stint with the Bears. The Bears thrive off of good special teams and good defense and this is just one small step to improving those areas.
