Glenn Timmerman is not your average Bears fan. Timmermann loves the Bears so much he gets the players to sign all of over his body, so he can get each Bears autograph permanently tattooed.
People call him crazy, but he clearly doesn’t care. Timmermann, who calls himself the “Biggest Bear Fan” has turned this hobby into what some consider a work of art. Timmermann was featured on MTV.com recently in an article titled, “32 NFL Tattoos For 32 NFL Teams”, check that out.
I wrote about Timmermann about two years ago here on Bearsbacker, but just recently had a chance to discuss with him everything Bears. It was definitely an interesting chat with Mr. Timmermann, he had a lot to say about everything I asked him.
Q: First of all introduce yourself to the Chicago Bears world. Who are you and what do you bring to the Bears?
A: My name is Glenn Timmermann aka The biggest bear fan, I’m your typical die-hard Bear fan LOL. Who not only roots for his team but also helps with many players charities.
Q: What made you start getting tattoos of the Bears autographs on your body?
A: After realizing that everyone in line getting an autograph, had just about the same item to be signed (football, helmet) So I wanted something different.
Q: When did you get you’re first Bears autograph tattoo?
A: My first autograph tattoo was Otis Wilson about five years ago, What a nice guy!
Q: When do you plan on stopping, how many do have right now?
A: I don’t plan on stopping intill I’m out of room, Hell I didn’t think I was going to get 10 autographs in my lifetime and I’m now at 124 autographed tattoos.
Q: Which player is your favorite autograph tattoo?
A: My favorite has to be the Mike Ditka on the back of my head, knowing that he will never sign anyone else!
Q: Which Bears player, former or present do you want the most to autograph on your body?
A: Doug Plank is the player that I would love to get the most , He was a beast for the Bears in his day!
Q: How many Bears games do you go to a season?
A: I go to about 2-5 games every year, I would go to more if I could afford them.
Q: What do people say to you when they see all of your autograph tattoos?
A: The reaction that I get from both Bear fans and non football fans is just amazing, somtimes I feel as popular as some of the players.
Q: Have you become known as a Chicago Bears “Superfan?”
A: Something that I wasn’t trying to do, but it is really cool being called a Super fan, I now tailgate with some of the most known Bear fans out there( Bearman, Da Bus, Grizzly and Honey Bear). What a group of die-hards they are.
Q: Who is your favorite Bears player of all time?
A: There is no better player or Human being than Walter Payton, “Sweetness.”
Q: What do you plan on doing if there is no NFL next season?
A: This is not even an option. I think I would suffer.
Q: Have you ever been to the NFL Draft to cheer on the Bears?
A: I’ve gone to a couple drafts, but that’s just to meet other Bear fans.
Q: Where did you watch the NFC Championship last season?
A: Since it was against the Packers, I had a few people over and watched it in the comfort of my Bears den.
Q: How old were you when the Bears won the Super Bowl in 1985? How crazy was it in the city?
A: I was 20. That was the craziest I’ve ever seen Chicago, I don’t think any celebration will every be a big as that one unless the Cubs win the World series.
Q: Thank you so much for your time.
A: No problem.
