ESPN columnist and co-host of ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” Michael Wilbon thinks the Bears should sign free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.
Wilbon being from Chicago always has strong opinions about his hometown team, the Bears and he has a lot of knowledge about them as well.
He makes many strong points about adding Terrell Owens to the mix. A good point he makes about adding Owens, it would take pressure of Forte and Hester in the passing and screen game.
Owens did put up almost 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games last season in Cincinnati.
Here’s a small part of his column that brings validity to the signing:
“There are two conditions that have to exist before a club can take the risk and sign T.O. for the rest of this season.”
1. You have to have a solidly entrenched and mentally tough veteran quarterback, a guy who can give nasty right back to T.O. when he starts up.
2. You have to have need.

While TO might be a solid WR, I do not think the Bears will move forward to sign him. Roy Williams will be the major stumbling block to this acquisition, even tho TO is easily and by far a better option and a pro bowl caliber WR with solid blocking ability and skills. Jerry Angelo will never admit that the Roy William experiment was a bad decision and bringing in a veteran player with TO's desire and abilities would be a decided admission to the ineffectiveness of the signing of Roy Williams. But, wouldn't it be a great WR set with TO, Knox and Bennett or Sanzy! Opposing secondaries would be forced into 1 on 1 coverage....I would take TO across the middle, Knox deep and send Bennett or Sanzy to the flat....try to cover that and still prevent Forte....oh well...I can still dream and hope the Bears' one day wake up and fire Ted Phillips, Jerry Angelo, and Tim Ruskell....maybe then we can be SB contender for more then one season every ten to twenty years!
