Hester was held out of practice Thursday afternoon and today, but he is expected to play on Sunday versus NFC North rival Detroit.
He is said to be questionable. If he plays, he will likely be limited in his offensive snaps, while he focuses mainly on the return game.
Defensive end Julius Peppers wasn’t able to practice yesterday, but today he fully participated in practice. He is probable for Sunday and will likely wear some kind of brace on his knee during the game.
Safety Major Wright was limited in practice yesterday, but he fully participated in practice today. His ankle seems to be better, but expect the Bears to still use a three-man rotation at safety.
Brandon Meriweather has played much improved in his limited time the past couple of weeks, so the Bears won’t be afraid to use him.
Matt Toeaina sure looked slow on Monday night, but it might had been because Eagles QB Michael Vick is so fast. But Toeaina was held out of practice today with his knee becoming a problem again.
He will likely be questionable on Sunday, look for veteran Anthony Adams to replace him if he can’t go.
Rookie right tackle Gabe Carimi will undergo an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his right knee today. If the procedure goes well, he will likely be used as a reserve lineman for the time being.
If the procedure doesn’t turn out well, Carimi’s season could end and that could be a bad thing because the Bears need a better swing tackle than veteran Frank Omiyale.
RB Jahvid Best was held out of practice again because of his concussion symptoms and he likely won’t be able to play on Sunday. Expect a lot of carries for Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams.
DT Sammie Hill was limited in practice and is questionable with his ankle injury.
Safety Louis Delmas is questionable coming off the bye with a foot injury, so expect safety Chris Harris to get some playing time the Bears, his former team.
Kicker Jason Hanson has a bruised left knee, but is expected to play on Sunday. Lions punter Ryan Donahue practiced some field goals Wednesday, just in case Hanson won’t be able to go.
Donahue strained his right quadricep during his field goal attempts, so the Lions signed punter Robert Malone just for precaution.
If Donahue can’t go on Sunday, the Bears will likely be able to take advantage of the lack of experience in Malone.
Devin Hester must be licking his chops right now with this news coming out of Detroit. Hester wants to play. Its just a matter if he actually can.
Johnny Knox would take over the return duties if Hester is out, which isn’t expected.
