Here are the Week Four Bears power rankings from various sites around the web:
Analysis, “Still waiting for Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall to rediscover that old Denver magic.”
Analysis, “Jay Cutler is still leaving some plays on the field. So is Brandon Marshall. But at the end of the day, the defense imposed its will on the Rams while the passing game was at least able to contribute. Marshall and Alshon Jeffery each caught five balls in the 23-6 win over St. Louis, but safety Major Wright’s catch — er, pick — was the tide-turner. The jury is still out on these Bears. Let’s see how the offensive line fares against a tough Dallas Cowboys defense on a national stage next Monday night.”
Sports Illustrated: #12 (Last week: #14)
Analysis, “Six sacks, a pick-6, and limiting the Rams to two field goals and 160 yards of offense made it a banner day for the rugged Bears defense at home against St. Louis. It’s kind of remarkable in this age of offense in the NFL, but many of the clubs in our top 12 are there because they’re playing superior defense. Look out, Tony Romo. Chicago is headed your way next, on Monday night.”
CBS Sports: #7 (Last week: #14)
Analysis, “That defensive front is playing a nasty style of football. They keep that up, and they could be a lot like the Giants.”
Fox Sports: #9 (Last week: #10)
Analysis, “Cutler threw an interception and was sacked two times, an improvement from four interceptions and seven sacks the week before. The Bears only converted 29 percent of their third downs, and it is hard to gain any offensive momentum with that many three and outs.”
Pro Football Talk: #12 (Last week: #18)
Analysis, “Based on Jay Cutler’s passer rating this year, J’Marcus Webb should be the one doing the bumping.”
Pro Football Weekly: #9 (Last week: #12)
Analysis, “Pass offense still a concern, but “D” was superb.”
WEEI.com: #10 (Last week: #12)
Analysis, “The Bears defense gets to the quarterback. The relentless D leads the league with 14 sacks in three games. That number will get even higher when the team is finished with the feeble offensive line of the Cowboys next Monday night.”
Best ranking: CBS Sports (#7)
Worst ranking: Pro Football Talk (#12)
