Chicago Bears tight end Kellen Davis had reeled in just three catches for 41 yards and a touchdown through the first three weeks of the 2012 NFL season.
Last night however he made arguably the best catch of his career.
On third-and-three, with roughly 7:41 remaining in the game, quarterback Jay Cutler fired a strike to Davis.
Davis reeled in the reception off of the hands of Dallas Cowboys safety Danny McCray.
Davis bobbled it until he fell to the ground where he kept his focus and made the catch for a gain of 25 yards.
The circus catch by Davis put the Bears up for good as Jay Cutler found wide receiver Brandon Marshall three plays later on a 31-yard touchdown pass. The Bears went up 34-10 and never looked back.
Davis finished the game with three receptions for 62 yards and did a solid job at making plays when his name was called.
Jay Cutler would love to have a tight end stretching the middle of the field. Davis could be just that for the Bears this season.
Here’s the 25-yard circus catch by Davis in the Bears 34-18 Monday Night Football win over Dallas:
