When Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler tied left tackle’s J’Marcus Webb’s shoe during a huddle on Sunday he received a round of applause from his teammates.
Webb seemed appreciative of the gesture by Cutler as he realized in the fourth quarter that his shoe wasn’t tied properly.
“Well, I guess before the game I didn’t necessarily loop, swoop and pull tight enough,” Webb said via ESPNChicago.com. “I guess it just came right off. Instead of causing a timeout, we had to … desperate times call for desperate measures. He tied my shoe.”
Webb laughed when told Cutler called it his “fatherly instinct.”
“Oh, my goodness,” Webb said. “That’s great.”
I hope this move by Cutler just shows fans and analysts what kind of guy he really is.
He may do some things that people don’t agree with, but at the end of the day the guy is a leader and he finds ways to win.
