Quote Of The Day: Jay Cutler On Marshall’s Performance This Season

Coming off a 10 catch, 165 yard performance, wide receiver Brandon Marshall seems to be a natural fit with Jay Cutler under center in Chicago.

Marshall was targeted a game high 14 times on Sunday by Cutler.

He now has 91 catches, 1,182 yards and eight touchdowns through 12 games. He is averaging 98.5 yards per game and 13 yards per catch.

He is a flat out beast. He made the play of the day, when he reeled in a Jay Cutler heave for a 56-yard gain.

The catch helped set up a game-tying field goal by kicker Robbie Gould to send the game into overtime.

Without Marshall I highly doubt this team would be at eight wins on the year, especially with the injuries to their wide receiving core as of late.

Cutler was supportive of Marshall’s arrival in Chicago from day one this season. He had this to say on Waddle and Silvy this afternoon on ESPN 1000 in Chicago.

He has done some great things. We obviously stole him from Miami, so we should send them a Christmas card.”

That’s a classic quote from Cutler who has been solid since returning from a concussion two weeks ago. His chemistry with Brandon Marshall is really what’s keeping this Bears’ offense afloat.

As for the Bears’ chances to bounce back next week this is what Cutler had to say.

“We play well on the road; the guys kind of band together.”

In the final quarter of the season, this is the time where contenders separate themselves from pretenders. Let’s see what the 2012 Chicago Bears are made of with four games left in the season.

One thing is for sure, Cutler and Marshall certainly have given this team plenty of hope down the final stretch.

Quote Of The Week: Roy Williams On Playing In London This Sunday

Bears wide receiver Roy Williams is coming off a game where he caught three passes for 50 yards, his highest total yards in a game since Week One against Atlanta.

Here’s what he had to say about playing in London, England for this Sunday’s match-up with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

“It’s a long way to play a football game, but we’ll play anywhere,” he said. “We’ll play on cement, Antarctica … wherever we’re scheduled to play is where we have to play. And we’ll be ready to play.”

Quote Of The Week: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers On Rivalry With Bears

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is 5-2 all-time against the Bears, but he clearly doesn’t understand the rivalry between the two NFC North teams.

‘‘I enjoy a number of the guys on the [Bears] and have worked out with Charles [Tillman],’’ Rodgers said. ‘‘I have a lot of respect for the defensive guys we play against — Lance [Briggs] and Brian[Urlacher] and Julius [Peppers] and Charles obviously. It’s been a great rivalry for the game for a long, long time. It’s an honor to carry on the tradition. But I don’t think there’s a lot of hatred [between the teams]. But there’s definitely lot of competitive guys that want to win.’

Going 2-1 against the Bears and beating them in Week 17 to advance to playoffs as the sixth seed helped the Packers get to the NFC Championship and defeat the Bears at Soldier Field.

Bears fans aren’t supporters of anything green and gold, so expect a lot of boos when the Super Bowl champion Packers take the field on Sunday in Chicago.

Rodgers will likely feel the rivalry on Sunday, the Bears need this game badly to regain some kind of hope in Chicago.

Quote Of The Week: Lance Briggs Calls Darren Sproles “Scooby Doo”

Bears linebacker Lance Briggs discussed everything from Brian Urlacher’s return to the team, the New Orleans Saints defense and offensive line today.

But what amused reporters was his comments about Saints RB Darren Sproles.

Briggs went on to say this about Sproles, when he met with the Chicago media:

“He’s a fast guy with quick little feet,” Briggs said. “Reminds me of one of those old `Scooby Doo’ cartoons. The guy can fly.”

Quote Of The Week: Bears Safety Chris Harris

“My leg would have to be cut off for me to miss this game next week.”

Quotes Of The Week: Lovie, Turner, Clark and Lombardi

I know it’s only Wednesday, but I am bringing you my quotes of the week.

To start it off, we all know Lovie Smith was brought back for another season to supposedly “get” the Bears back to the playoffs, it seems like so long ago we were in the Super Bowl, anyway here’s what Lovie had to say yesterday during his press conference:

Lovie: “We’re not happy with where we are, we realize it has been three years since we have been to the playoffs. We realize all of that. We know we need to improve, and we will. It’s kind of as simple as that. We can get back. We’re not the first franchise to go through a tough spell, and we won’t be the first one to be able to come out of that, so from this day forward it is about doing what we need to do to put a better product out on the field next year.”

Ron Turner talked to the Chicago Tribune after he got canned, here’s what he said:

Turner: “You look at where we were at the start and then at the end, they’re different players. You don’t just bring in a quarterback with that many new players and click right away. It takes time, sometimes years. There’s no question, it’s going to take off, I did the best job I could with what I had.”

Dez Clark was very upset about the firing of tight ends coach Rob Boras, here’s what he had to say yesterday via text message:

Clark: “I’m very disappointed that they fired Rob because I know that they know he is the best coach on the staff, I don’t see how it can be justified unless they are going to get rid of the whole staff and fire everybody, one of the finest coaches I’ve been around in 11 years in the league, he’ll land on his feet and be an asset to another coaching staff.”

Former NFL executive and current NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi spoke up about the possibility of Jeremy Bates becoming the next Bears offensive coordinator, here’s what he said:

Lombardi: “He is exactly what the Bears need right now because there is an element of toughness that he brings to the table, he is going to be able to get into the quarterback’s head and he is going to be able to get into his mind. And the quarterback — this is the key point now — the quarterback accepts what he says as coaching.”

“Does (Bates) tell him what he wants to hear? No way. I’ve watched it, I’ve seen it. I love Jay Cutler. I think Jay Cuter can win for him. However, I do know that he needs to be coached, and coaching done the right way is not being afraid of confrontation and telling a player when he is doing something wrong.”

Those are the quotes of the week, Chicago Bears style. Check back next week to see the new set of quotes.
